Madame Marquise de Pompadour (29 dicembre 1721 - 15 aprile 1764) era un membro della corte francese ed era considerata l'amante ufficiale preferita di Luigi XV.
Madame de Pompadour è sinonimo di brio e intelligenza, eccelleva nel farsi strada e aveva un buon occhio per gli interni rococò e la sua architettura. Progettò edifici come Place de la Concorde e il Petit Trianon.
Era amica di Dom Perignon e talmente affascinata dal suo "vino con le bollicine" appena inventato da diventare la più grande promotrice dello champagne alla corte francese. La leggenda vuole che la "coupe de champagne" (bicchiere di champagne francese) sia stata modellata sul suo seno.
